Apparently, the world wasn?t enough because the game formerly known as TWINE has been retooled into James Bond 007 in Agent Under Fire.
Since being tied to a stale movie license probably wasn?t the best thing going for the game, this move should be good news for Bond fans as EA?s game will be telling an original story that pits 007 against Malprave, the head of a terrorist group that?s using an army of clones to threaten world peace. The first-person combat will be paired with some driving levels?in fact, the game known as 007 Racing has been folded into Agent Under Fire. An early preview of one level sported rich environments and a clean, fluid frame rate as Bond blasted through throngs of enemies. The game?s combat levels will also have alternate stealth pathways, so if you tire of being Rambo, you can crawl through ventilation shafts and otherwise sneak about. Nice touches like scripted sequences where a vehicle wrecked in front of Bond or terrorists interrogated hostages helped the demo level feel more dynamic.
As for the driving side, you?ll get behind the wheel of Bond?s famous BMW and Aston Martin for hot pursuits, Twisted Metal-style combat, and more. On the multiplayer front, Agent Under Fire will feature four-player split-screen deathmatches
R (Q's replacement) will also make appearances to keep Bond busy with plenty of gadgets like a grappling gun, x-ray glasses, and more. John Cleese will lend his famous vocal cords to the game, but EA couldn?t announce any other Bond celebs who might appear in the game just yet. All told, EA?s unveiling of this new direction for its Bond games looked most promising?if development stays on track, it could be one of this holiday season?s top guns.
