Rock Band (Page 2 of 2)

But how much will you pay?

Potential customers for this game are worried, however, that prices for peripherals might bleed them dry if they want the full experience with access to guitars, vocals, bass, and drums. Luckily, certain stores are offering a discounted $200 bundle pack that gets you a copy of the game, a wireless Fender guitar, a microphone, and a drum set. And hypothetically, should you already have a GH guitar or two lying around the house, you can always pay the individual prices of $60 for the game, $80 for the drum set, and $30 for the microphone. Of course, given the game's distant release date of November 2007, these prices are still subject to change.

And what about the music?

Given that the game is being co-produced and developed by MTV, it's easy to believe that Rock Band will also have access to a massive catalogue of music. So far, major labels like EMI, Warner, Hollywood Records, Rhino, Sony BMG, and Universal have jumped aboard, offering to suply master recordings for any of their songs that make their way into the game.

Of course, a tiny bit of suggestion from the fans doesn't hurt either, so the game's website has also set up a simple form that allows gamers to submit ideas for songs to include on the final playlist. Access to that form can be obtained at the Rock Band official site.

The companies involved still have a long way to go before this game sees its way onto store shelves, but the buzz that's already developed from fans and media alike is still quite impressive. The fact that both Guitar Hero and Rock Band will pretty much be vying for the same market will make for some interesting gaming headlines by the end of the year.

But if you ask me, the determining factor in this head-to-head battle will always be the music. The first game to put up Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4 will receive my personal endorsement. This I guarantee (for what it's worth).
