Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights

If drifting is your thing, you have to check out Juiced 2. Everything you need to know, right here.

THQ graced our presence this week with Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights, the follow-up to the somewhat unimpressive first offering in the series that hit a few years back. The original Juiced tried to carve its own niche in the street-racing genre, but really, nothing really stood out to make it a must-have racing experience that was anything but a middle ground between the Gran Turismos and Midnight Clubs of the gaming world.

With Juiced 2, though, Juice Games is starting from scratch, and this time there is a distinct focus on drifting. But more than that, car and character customization, a few cool gameplay mechanics, and a simpler overall goal system are the most promising new features. Plus, the popular Hot Import Nights car show is a nice bonus, especially if you like partially clad tuner models.

Customization

Crafting your own ride is standard to most racing games these days, but Juiced 2 adds some cool new features like the option to view all every little extra piece added to your car at once. It almost looks like the car exploded, where each piece floats just outside of the area it was added to. Also, there's a snazzy new X-Ray view that show exactly what each added part does to your car, of which there are four categories: visual mods, decals, paint, and performance mods. There's even a custom Photoshop-like editor for decals.

But what most racing games don't do is let you customize your character. There's a complete face and body customization system that's almost as in-depth and EA's GameFace. It just goes to show how much Juiced 2 is relying on racing culture and the racing community that's constantly being built in the game.
