The result? Hurl a crate at a stormtrooper's head in The Force Unleashed and he might raise his arm to bat it aside, duck out of the way, or get smashed in the face and attempt to balance himself lest he fall over. Hurl that same crate at his body and he might dive to one side, try to jump over it, or just take the hit and angle himself so he gets kicked up against a wall rather than to the floor. Toss a trooper over the side of a cliff and he'll try to grab hold of anything to prevent his demise-only to plummet inexorably to his death after the ledge itself gives way to his weight. Interacting with NPCs will be an experience unto itself.

With a release window stretching from the end of this year to the middle of 2008, there's still, unfortunately, a while to wait before the next great Star Wars title will unleash itself upon us Force-starved fans. Until that happy day comes, there will likely remain a great deal of trepidation regarding LucasArts' newest baby, centered mostly around the strength of its gameplay. Despite how much fun toying with stormtroopers will surely be, the question remains: will a lightsaber and four (admittedly chainable) Force powers keep an entire game afloat?
