Mario Strikers Charged (Page 2 of 2)

Mario Strikers Charged has seen the most change in the features department, offering up a robust single-player experience that allows you to play the greatest role in all of sports; the comeback kid. The story mode begins with your team at its lowest point and chronicles their road to glory--a common but effective theme prevalent in movies like Bad News Bears and Major League.

Another new single-player mode called Strikers Challenge allows you to become better acquainted with the captains in the game, as you replay historic moments from Mario Strikers history, which bridge the gap of the changes in the league between the predecessor and its sequel. Of course, Mario sports games have always been about the multiplayer, and Mario Strikers Charged should deliver with great four-player action on one console, and the ability to play against opponents over Wi-Fi.

Strikers won't be a bare-bones online game you'd expect from a burgeoning service like Nintendo's--the team at Next Level Games has season rankings and matchmaking options that should satisfy the most strident sports fans.

There are a few minor qualms we've encountered in Mario Strikers Charged thus far, like the imbalance between captains and sidekicks, and the plain-looking Mega Strike goal-blocking view. Hopefully they'll see some tweaking before kickoff, as this Striker's got some serious all-star potential.

Just like in real soccer, there's a lot of running.
