Set in the English Age of Exploration, Sword of the New World is one of the first MMORPGs with multi-character control
Sure, there are a lot of fantasy-based MMORPGs out there, but imcGames' Sword of the New World is pretty much the only one that allows you to control multiple characters. With huge maps and a versatile character customization feature, the possibilities seem endless for the newest MMO in town.
Story and Features
In the Age of Exploration, Europe is on the hunt for new colonies, and Sword of the New World is about the danger theses colonists discover while dipping into other people's business.
Most MMO games are about controlling one dedicated character, but in Sword, you'll be able to control a customizable team of three characters simultaneously. The cool thing is that any class, type, or level of character can be combined with others to form a completely unique team.
As for play options, you'll have your basic online campaign mode (PvE), as well as a full PvP mode. But the game also adds an FvF (family vs. family) and CvC (city vs. city) in specific arenas throughout the online game. The game has a pretty fast pace that might be unusual to the standard MMO player, but it helps move the game at a good pace, a key to getting new gamers into the experience.
Characters
Sword has many customizable character classes that can learn and master new skills along the way, including the traditional Fighter that is melee-focused, the Wizard, an obvious spell caster, a Scout that has the power to heal but also makes for a great assassin, as well as a devastating Elementalist and a Musketeer. Players can form groups of 10 players, which will make for some pretty massive battles once a few teams get up in the mix. As you can tell from the English colonial setting, the game has a pretty unique overall look, which is emphasizes by the design of the characters.
Sword of the New World is due out later this summer.
