Fiery canine gods of destruction and little girls with enormous mechanical hammers?check out the surreal world of Malice, one of the first Xbox 3D action/adventures.
?Silly, enormous-eyed anime girl, now look at what you?ve done! You?ve released Malice Incarnate, a giant nuclear fur-ball with sharp teeth and smouldering eyes, unto the world!?Earlier this month, Bill Gates unveiled the Xbox at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas?and Malice was there to put the mythical might and magic of the Microsoft machine on full display. Thanks to a revolutionary new graphics engine dubbed Shadow-Caster by Malice developer Argonaut (the folks who brought us Star Fox for the SNES and Croc for the PlayStation), the game promises to be a showcase for dynamic real-time lighting and shadow effects that will knock out your teeth.
In this 3D action/adventure game, you'll take control of a young heroine armed with strange weapons? including the Mace of Clubs and Quantum Tuning Fork?out on a quest to destroy the evil and palindromatic Dog-God as he brings fiery destruction to the 30 levels of your surreal homeland. As you progress through the game, you?ll learn to manipulate the Four Elements of Wood, Metal, Earth, and Fire to turn the world upside-down and alter landscapes with raging fires and floods, eventually becoming a mythical Cat-Goddess to put an end to the canine?s reign of terror. Sound strange? You bet. But who hasn?t dreamed of becoming a super-deformed cat-girl with a giant mechanical hammer and world-altering powers? Malice is on target to hit Wonderland this fall soon after the Xbox launch, but, until then, all we have are these surreal screens to whet our appetites.
