Capcom announces Phoenix Wright contest

To determine whether Phoenix Wright 3 is suitable for American localization, Capcom is asking gamers to "plead their case".

Although extremely popular in the Japanese market, Capcom's Phoenix Wright series of games isn't exactly breaking sales records in the U.S. Sure, it's received positive reviews from most media outlets, but the game's quirky style can prove to be a little unappealing to a mass-market audience. The next game in the series is being released in Japan this April, but Capcom USA is still on the fence regarding the game's American localization. Sure, it has a cult following, but will it make them money?

They need convincing. So, in an attempt to gauge demand, they've asked fans to participate in the "Ace Attorney: Plead Your Case Contest". From now up until the very end of February, fans of the series can attempt to persuade Capcom in bringing Phoenix Wright 3 to America through the power of comics. Utilizing the comic and word balloon templates Capcom has provided on their website, entrants must create their own one-page comic to state their case. The deadline for entries has been set for Monday, February 28th, 2007 at 11:59 PM PST.

Out of all the entries Capcom will receive, three will be chosen as winners. Prizes include two Phoenix Wright collectible figurines and one Phoenix Wright collectible lapel pin (an approximate retail value of $18 USD). But stuff the prizes - if somebody actualy succeeds in bringing Phoenix Wright 3 over here, then everybody wins.

To whomever's planning on entering the contest: good luck. And if you actually win, tell 'em we sent ya.
