Xbox 360 gets its first taste of native 1080p

Thanks to Sega's Virtua Tennis 3, Xbox 360 owners will see the first game to harness 1080p resolution on the new-gen console.

You don't need it, you don't have it, but dammit, you want 1080p

You don't need it, you don't have it, but dammit, you want 1080p

If you're actually rich enough to own a 1080p television and an Xbox 360, consider yourself one of the lucky ones. And if you love tennis games, prepare to wet yourself. Sega has recently announced that their upcoming title, Virtua Tennis 3, will be the first ever Xbox 360 game to support full 1080p resolution -- a rare feat in today's market due to the vast amount of system resources that such a game would require.

"With the implementation of 1080p capabilities on the Xbox 360, players will experience a new level of visual intensity and athletic drama played out on the court through a wide range of varied and realistic animations and dynamic cloth physics," claims Scott A. Steinberg of Sega of America. "Virtua Tennis 3 is a must-have for fans and newcomers to the series due to its great pick-up-and-play ability, life-like details, and incredible physics. Now with unique Xbox Live play, Virtua Tennis 3 has once again pushed the boundaries to redefine what a great multiplayer video game should be."

Virtua Tennis 3's release is scheduled for March 20th, and will be available on PS3 (with 1080p support) and PSP.
