Konami announces new games for 2007

"Happy Gamers Day!" says Konami. "Have some vampires and a smiling drop of water."

Konami unveiled a total of 17 new titles for various consoles last Friday in a San Francisco event that was dubbed "Gamers Day 2007". Chief among these titles was Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for the PSP, a collection that will feature long-awaited Castlevania games: Demon Castle Dracula X: Rondo of Blood and the much beloved Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Rondo of Blood, which was exclusively made for the PC Engine in 1993, will make its first appearance on American shores with the release of this collection. In addition to the untouched original version, the game will offer a brand new mode that will feature updated 3D graphics backgrounds to enhance the 2D action in the forefront. There are no details as of yet as to the improvements that will be made with Symphony of the Night.

Konami's second headlining announcement was the introduction of the brand new Wii-game Dewy's Adventure (tentative title), the brainchild of Elebits producer, Shingo Mukaitoge. The main character is a tiny droplet of water named Dewy, who is given the ultra-important mission of saving his forest with the help of his new elemental powers. With the Wiimote, Dewy can roll around as a ball of water, change his form to mist, or even freeze into ice to more effectively battle his enemies. In addition, players can also utilize motion-specific functions with the Wiimote to perform such actions as creating earthquakes, summoning gusts of wind, or even calling forth bolts of lightning.

Rounding out the list of Gamers Day titles were Brooktown High Senior Year (PSP), Coded Arms: Contagion (PSP), Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party (Wii), Dance Dance Revolution Universe (360), Death Jr. and the Science Fair of Doom (DS), GoPets: Vacation Island (DS), Hellboy (PS3, 360, PSP), Honeycomb Beat (DS), Konami Classics Series: Arcade Hits (DS), Kororinpa: Marble Mania (Wii), Lost in Blue 2 (DS), Lunar Knights (DS), Time Ace (DS), Wing Island (Wii), and Winning Eleven Pro Evolution Soccer (360, PS2, DS, PSP, PC).
