Much to Nintendo's chagrin, the chip boasts upgradeability, in addition to numerous other features
A website known as WiiKey has made the first public internet claim of creating the "first and only" upgradeable modchip for the Nintendo Wii that will allow users to access a number of taboo features, such as the ability to play backup discs of both Wii and Gamecube games, as well as the ability to make one's Wii region-free. Amongst their other claimed features:
-Fully upgradable via DVD/disc (future proof, expect cool features to come)
-Supports multi-disc games
-Supports DVD-R and DVD+R
-Built-in audio fix (for games using streaming, no patch required)
-Stealth mode
-4 wires & quick solder interface
The website claims that shipping will begin as early as 2/7. One can easily predict what Nintendo's reponse to this will be.
But like my mom used to say, "The console generation don't start 'till the bootleggin' does."
My mom can also kick all your asses in Halo.
