Realtime Worlds' free-roaming baby takes its first steps out into the wild.
Inside: A whole lot more than just a Halo 3 beta invite.
After last week's missed release date and on-screen ads enticing you to download a game sampler that wasn't yet available, the Crackdown playable demo is finally available on Xbox Live to Gold Members. Clocking in at about 1.24 GB, this sucker will take a while to download unless you're one of those lucky devils with a home fiber connection, but believe us when we tell you that it is well worth the wait.
Showcasing the open-ended style of free-roaming gameplay, upgradeable character skills, and online cooperative play, the Crackdown demo sets you loose on the Los Muertos gang, and should show doubters that this slab deserves to be a hit even without Halo 3 beta access sweetening the detail.
Gamers in Japan and Germany are out of luck for the time being - hell, the game won't even be available in ban-happy Deutschland - and freebie Silver members will have to wait a week for their preview.
Crackdown is currently scheduled to hit retail shelves on February 20th.
