Capcom's zombie-fest sells a cool million, adding another key hit to the growing Xbox 360 game library.
So many undead nasties, so little time.
Capcom has announced that Dead Rising -- the zombie-stomping, mall-destroying interactive answer to Dawn of the Dead -- has shipped over one million copies worldwide as of the close of 2006.
Dead Rising had its share of problems upon release, the most widely publicized of which was the fact that in-game text was virtually unreadable on a standard definition screen. That strange oversight did little to prevent it from flying off store shelves, however, thanks largely to a free-roaming, kill anything spirit that let you use just about anything as a weapon, from sledgehammers and gardening shears, to vehicles and children's toys. And alongside The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Dead Rising proved to be a key early exclusive for the Xbox 360.
Given these sales numbers, it's hard for fans not to get excited about the prospects of a sequel, but nothing has been announced yet. Top on our list of desired improvements: please, for the love of all that is holy, don't force us to hit a men's room just to save our game.
