Buy Crackdown, Get Halo 3 Beta Invite

As if colorful, futuristic sandbox gameplay wasn't enough.

There's more than one way to skin a Master Chief.

There's more than one way to skin a Master Chief.

On page 61 of the February 2007 issue of GamePro sits the second of two pages promoting the bright and shiny new world of destruction called Crackdown. As if this game's explosive mayhem didn't look sweet enough already, the lower right corner of the advertisement reads: "Includes invitation to Halo 3 multiplayer beta. Limited time offer, look for specially marked boxes."

Bungie's recently launched site for Halo 3 triggered an avalanche of registrations, with each slavering gamer hoping to snag a coveted spot on the multiplayer beta, which will reportedly be offered to winners of a random lottery. If you find one of these "specially marked boxes," it sounds like you'll circumvent that process altogether. There's no word yet on precisely how many of these special boxes will be available.

Developed by Real Time Worlds, and published by Microsoft Game Studios, Crackdown is scheduled to hit store shelves on February 20.
