Burger King serves up 2 million crappy games

They may be better known for "chicken fries," but now Burger King's push into the games market is selling better than a $.99 Jr. Whopper with chee.

Grab a value meal at your local Burger King, and you can snag one of three dual-format Xbox/Xbox 360 game discs for $3.99 each. BK's partnership with Blitz Games, creators of Sneak King, Big Bumpin', and Pocketbike Racer, has already paid big dividends in the form of over two million copies sold.

"We created the BK Xbox games as a unique form of all-family interactive entertainment, and we're thrilled with the response thus far," says Russ Klein, speaking for Burger King. "Most video games are considered a blockbuster when they reach the one million mark in sales, and this collection has achieved twice that, thanks in part to the great value for the money, and convenient holiday stocking stuffer appeal."

While many are reporting these numbers as being in the same league as multi-million sellers like Gears of War, you must remember that the "two million games sold" Burger King's press release trumpets is spread across three different titles...profits are doubtlessly low for a game that sells for $3.99 compared to one that sells for $59.99. Still, it does serve as proof that hundreds of thousands of gamers aren't averse to games with a distinct mercenary bent, just as long as the price is right.
