Politics makes for strange bedfellows. Again.
After filibustering in the capitol and in the media about the dangers of video games, and the threat that interactive violence supposedly presents to our nation's youth, Senators Lieberman and Clinton are about to join forces with the ESRB for a series of advertisements promoting the game ratings system, according to GamePolitics.com.
A press conference scheduled for 3 PM today will feature the two legislators, plus Entertainment Software Association president Doug Lowenstein and Entertainment Software Ratings Board president Patricia Vance. The quartet will announce a new national television campaign to raise awareness of the ratings that appear prominently on the cover of every new video game sold in the United States.
There's no official word yet on why these two have softened their rhetoric and agreed to partner with the ESA and ESRB, but we suspect details on that front will emerge from today's press conference.
