Ridge Racer 7 to Install on PS3 Hard Drive

In addition to recent reports that Ridge Racer 7 can be installed to the PlayStation 3 hard drive, GamePro has learned of additional details.
Ridge Racer 7: why wait?
According to a lead Ridge Racer 7 producer, "the game data can be installed on the hard drive, to reduce load times."
"This is not necessary in order to play the game...you can have everything read off of the Blu-ray disc. It's just an optional user-friendly feature, because when you want to race, you don't want to wait!"
Our contacts also tell us that the full version of Ridge Racer 7 weighs in at 5 GB, with the installed version copying most of the game's data directly to the internal PS3 hard drive for enhanced loading.
This is good news. It's a purely optional decision to install the game, but it's a nice perk for diehard Ridge Racer fans.
Speaking of which, did you guys see that RR7 scored super-high reviews from Famitsu's notoriously tough reviewers? Looks like we know what the top PS3 racer will be for 2006...
