In an interview with Kikizo, Hirai noted that it "absoultely" is "technically feasible" to squeeze both the motion sensing and rumble capabilities into the Sixaxis controller. The price, however, would "be so expensive," Harai said, it would be a "huge disservice" to the customer.

When it came down to the final decision, "the vibration feature, which is a feedback feature, as compared to the motion sensing which is an input functionality," said Hirai, "we decided that the input device is a lot more important that feedback."
