It's Official: $250 Wii to Launch November 19th

GameSpot brings word that the New York Times has broken the launch news on Nintendo's Wii.
Nintendo has announced the specifics of the Wii launch:
- The Wii is $250
- The launch date is Sunday, November 19th for North and South America -- two days after the PS3 launch (Nov. 17th)
- No firm shipping numbers yet, but the article claims that the Wii will be "far more available in stores this holiday season" than the PS3
- Games will cost $49.99
- The Wii will come with Wii Sports
- Zelda and Excite Truck are due out in 2006; Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will wait until 2007
- The Wii will include web browsing abilities
Here is more information that was revealed at the Nintendo event in New York City yesterday:
- Nintendo hopes to release 4 million units globally by December 31, 2006.
- The GameCube version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will be released in December.
There will be 30 games available during the Wii's "launch window" (November 19, 2006 through March 2007); 15 of which will be third party and will include:
- Bust-A-Move Revolution
- Call of Duty 3
- Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi
- Elebits
- Excite Truck
- Far Cry Vengeance
- The Godfather
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Madden NFL 07
- Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
- Metal Slug Anthology
- Mortal Kombat: Armageddon
- Need for Speed Carbon
- Rampage: Total Destruction
- Red Steel
- Sonic and the Secret Rings
- Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
