"We are very excited to bring Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent to the Wii this holiday season," Ubisoft VP of marketing, Tony Key, told IGN. To clarify, Double Agent will be available within the launch window of the Wii, not a launch day title, and is expected to be out by January.

"The Splinter Cell franchise has always translated very well across multiple platforms," said Key, adding that Ubisoft is "confident that the Wii version will continue the tradition of maximizing the capabilities of each respective video game console platform."

Splinter Cell Double Agent for the Wii is based on the PlayStation 2 and GameCube versions, with enhanced graphics and a unique control scheme customized for the Wii-mote and nunchuck attachment. No firm details were revealed, however, as the controls are still being tweaked. But one exampled revealed that players will have to shake the Wii-mote and nunchuck back and forth to pick locks in the game.

Sadly, no multiplayer is planned for the Wii version, but downloadable content is still a possibility.
