Conflicting recent reports that it's "almost impossible" to pull off 1080p on the PS3, a Sony representative confirms that PlayStation 3 shooter Resistance: Fall of Man is being targeted as a 1080p game

Yesterday, we reported that an anonymous PS3 developer said that reaching smooth frame rates at 1080p resolution is "almost impossible."
Right now the game is at 720p and we are aiming to have it reach 1080p by the time the game is wrapped."

But today, we've received word from a Sony representative that the possibilities for 1080p are, in fact, alive and kicking for the PS3 launch lineup. The game in particular is Insomnaic-developed sci-fi shooter Resistance: Fall of Man, which is scheduled to be a PS3 launch title.
"Right now the game is at 720p and we are aiming to have it reach 1080p by the time the game is wrapped," representative said of Resistance. "We will keep you posted as the game gets closer to launch."
