From China, which holds the largest number of WoW subscribers -- over three million -- to the United States with nearly two million players, "World of Warcraft has become the first truly global video-game hit since Pac-Man" according to the NY Times. Currently, WoW is available in six different languages: English, simplified and traditional Chinese, Korean, German, French, and Spanish is in development.

Interviewed by the NY Times, Kim Daejoong from Korea contributes the success of WoW to the "sheer variety and amount of things to do, and how easy it is to get into them." Whether you are a casual or hard-core gamer, WoW "appeals to both audiences, all within one game, and brings them together" says Daejoong.

Released in November 2004, WoW is expected to generate more than $1 billion in revenue for Blizzard this year with the seven million subscribers mark quickly approaching.
