Capcom: Dead Rising Fastest Selling Next-Gen Title

Dead Rising is not only one of the most popular Xbox 360 games to date -- according to Capcom, it's the fastest-selling next generation game to date in North America.
Gamers are flocking to Dead Rising like hungry ghouls on a freshly killed corpse
One way or another, Capcom has reason to celebrate -- its Dawn of the Dead homage, Dead Rising, has shipped over 500,000 copies in its first two weeks at retail alone. That's a startlingly high number for an Xbox 360 title, considering the console is only nine months old and hasn't reached the kind of widespread market penetration as the PlayStation 2.
Capcom's announcement also proclaims that the game is the "fastest selling next generation title for a Japanese publisher." This alone is a significant achievement, as Microsoft has convinced only a few Japanese publishers to develop exclusive Xbox 360 games.
Given the runaway success of Dead Rising, it's entirely possible that other Japanese companies may think twice about shunning the Xbox 360.
