Microsoft has released the first images of Halo 2 running on Windows Vista, taken from a build shown at this year's Leipzig Games Convention.
Halo 2 gets the Windows Vista treatment in early 2007
The images show off an array of play modes and weapons from the upcoming PC port of the classic Xbox 360 shooter. Judging by the screenshots, some of the effects have received an upgrade -- note the seemingly higher resolution particle effects cast by the plasma rifle, needler, and plasma grenade fire.
We're awaiting even larger image files from Microsoft as we speak. In the meantime, here are the smaller, compressed images.
Honestly, I'm not terribly impressed by these graphics. They look sharper and cleaner, but otherwise don't seem to be much improved over Halo 2 running on the Xbox 360 at 720p. I mean, where's the Direct X 10 hotness?
Hopefully, the final version will be worth the wait...though the hands-on impressions taken by 1UP's Luke Smith don't exactly have me brimming with confidence.
Still, it's Halo. I'm gonna play it, and you are, too.
