Atari officially announced today that it is delaying its next-gen installment of the popular Alone in the Dark series until its 2008 fiscal year, which runs from April 2007 to March 2008.
The announcement comes on the heels of a lackluster earnings report for Atari's first fiscal quarter of 2007. The company reported losses of $7.1 million during that period, a significant recovery from the previous year's losses of $32.8 million. However, the company also reported $4.4 million less revenue.
Next-gen versions of Alone in the Dark have been confirmed for the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3, though Atari also has plans for other versions. "We actually are extending Alone in the Dark to some other formats right now we have not even announced yet," said Atari CEO Bruno Bonnell. "I don't want to be forward, but it will be announced shortly."
