Electronic Arts has been awarded the exclusive rights to develop, publish and distribute videogames based on the Harry Potter book series. If you have yet to read or see a Harry Potter book, it's a literary phenomenon sweeping the nation and inciting children to read books instead of play videogames, which EA is going to try to fix.

Under the agreement, EA will publish games based on current Harry Potter books including Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which is the upcoming feature film from Warner Bros. Pictures. EA also has the right to publish games based on any subsequent Harry Potter films distributed during the terms of the agreement. The license grants EA the exclusive right to develop and publish games for all current and next generation consoles and handheld platforms, as well as online. To ensure the storylines and characters from Harry Potter books are accurate, EA will work closely with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and Warner Bros. Financial terms of the deal with Warner Bros. were not disclosed.
