Gore's Stance on Videogames (from the Washington Post)

Vice President Al Gore has selected his running mate for this year's Presidential election.

Vice President Al Gore has selected his running mate for this year's Presidential election. Violent videogame opponent Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut has been picked by Gore as the vice presidential candidate for the Democratic party. The formal announcement will come Tuesday at a political rally in Nashville. Lieberman is a 58 year old former state attorney general completing his second term in the Senate, where he has developed a reputation as a moderate and New Democrat. He's a graduate of Yale University and a former majority leader of the Connecticut State Senate; Lieberman unsuccessfully ran for the House in 1980 and was elected state attorney general in 1982. Lieberman is the first person of the Jewish faith selected to run on a national ticket. Lieberman has been an outspoken critic of the entertainment industry, supporting the V-chip for TVs, which allows parents to block objectionable programming from their children. He also, with the help of conservative William Bennett, attacked gangsta rap and has been equally aggressive in criticizing the creators of violent video games. You may remember that Gore's wife Tipper lead the fight in an attempt to censor music, an extensive fight that ended in Parental Advisory Explicit Lyrics stickers being placed on records with foul language.
