The eagerly awaited expansion pack to Half-Life 2, Episode One, is now available. And the good news is, at least two more are on the way in the coming weeks.
Alyx is back and ready to rock in Half-Life 2: Episode One
Fans of the hit sci-fi shooter Half-Life are used to waiting.
First they waited five years for a proper sequel to the first, groundbreaking game. Then they waited 16 more months for Valve Software to release its long-delayed expansion pack, Half-Life 2: Episode One (formerly called Half-Life 2: Aftermath).
But the waiting is over. Half-Life 2: Episode One is now live on Valve's Steam service for $19.99. In a nice bonus, you don't need any of the earlier games (or even Half-Life 2) because Episode One is a stand-alone product.
Half-Life 2: Episode One is part of Valve's ambitious plan to popularize episodic gaming content. Another marquee episodic series is Sin Episodes: Emergence, which picks up on the cult hit 1999 shooter, Sin.
Woo-hoo! It's about time. I'm installing this as we speak.
Anyone who hasn't played Half-Life 2 is missing out on one of the best shooters ever made. Period. And at just $20, Episode One should be a great way to get a taste of the game for cheap.
Way cool. Has anyone else tried it yet?
