Mythic gives the latest on Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

One of the most talked about highlights, concerning Age of Reckoning is the RVR aspects, is the ability to actually capture and pillage an enemy's capital city, and totally annihilate the cities population.

Greg states, "The fight for the capital city is actually a culmination of all the RVR aspects in Age of Reckoning. The battles on the battlefield, the scenarios, and the skirmish fighting, all the things that are happening across the game ultimately resolve themselves in the fight for the capital cities. For instance, the Green Skins have been successfully campaigning against the Dwarves and they actually get to the threshold of the (Dwarvern) capital city itself."

"Basically, there are three stages for taking over a capital city; the first stage is the gates scenario. In the gates scenario, you'll have the dwarfs defending the gate wall that protects the whole city itself, and they'll battle for overhead space and if the attackers (Green Skins) are successful the defenders have one more chance to defend an inner keep area (Stage 2). If the attackers are successful there, they'll flood into the city itself (Stage 3)."

"Once you get into the city, you'll have RVR objectives that appear for both the attackers and defenders in an attempt to focus the activity, so there not chaos inside the city. So, the attackers will have goals to accomplish inside the city. For instance an attacker's goal maybe to capture the enemy King, another example goal could be to dowse the Dwarvern forge that has been lit for thousands of years. It's an act that the Orcs would love to do as an insult if nothing else."

"Meanwhile, the defenders have their own counter objectives, kill the attackers. It's a tug of war, conflict and gold. We have some great rewards. If the attackers are successful in taking over the city, they'll get a realm wide victory buff. There are incentives and rewards for actually taking over. And of course there's just the wow factor in saying you've captured the king and bring him back to your cities."

"Inside the cities, there's unique loot that you can't get anywhere else. Incentive and reward for going through all the effort, going through the campaign, being successful. We give player some really cool stuff for being successful at that."

We asked, "Say you capture the Dwarvern King; will there be the option to shave his beard or do something humiliating to the characters"?

Steve replied, "It has been discussed. Ultimately shaving the beard would be a great thing. Wither there will be an analogy for all the races maybe so, but it's something we've talked about internally that we would like to do."

Stay tuned for Part 2 of GamePro.com's Mythic interview were Steve and greg talk about Mythic's 20-foot graphical rule, the new combat engine, character abilities, and mounts!
