Sega shows off a first look at its eagerly anticipated follow-up to the award-winning Virtua Tennis series
When it comes to video game tennis, there are only two categories: Virtua Tennis, and everything else.
Sega's much-loved series is returning to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in spring of 2007. Virtua Tennis is being developed by Sega's AM3 Studios.
Though not many details have been released on the game, we do know that Sega is working hard to make sure Virtua Tennis 3 takes full advantage of the graphical power of the Xbox 360 and PS3. And all that visual excellence will be all the more important in the new Player Creation mode, which will let players define their tennis star's appearance and attributes down to minute details. Minutae like facial details and realistic animation should also help make the game shine.
The new Career mode will inject a dose of globetrotting as players compete to best international stars. There's no word if any top tennis stars have signed to be included in the game -- time will tell.
And it's also great to hear that Sega will be re-introducing the classic Virtua Tennis mini-games, which are helpful for perfecting your form.
Sega's promising to show more on Virtua Tennis 3 at E3. In the meantime, check out these dazzling first shots:
