Exclusive! Atari Announces New Super Dragon Ball Z Game

GamePro has the scoop (AND the first screens!) for Super Dragon Ball Z, the latest fighting game developed by the creators responsible for Street Fighter II!

Atari has shared exclusive information with GamePro on its plans for the Dragon Ball Z series. Super Dragon Ball Z will arrive in July of 2006 for the PlayStation 2.

Super Dragon Ball Z is being developed by Nacmo Bandai, as well as the creative force behind the mega-hit Street Fighter II. Super Dragon Ball Z will include a massive character roster -- 18 fighters in all. And Namco Bandai and Atari are promising a new, more complex fighting system, which will allow players to use new combos on both the land and in the air. The developers are intent on delivering a more hardcore and mature experience with Super Dragon Ball Z, but are focused on remaining true to the core DBZ property.

What's more, the game will feature a large degree of environmental damage and large-scale special effects, the impact of which are visible in the game's first screen shots.
