Frontlines: Fuel of War Coming to PS3, Xbox 360, PC

THQ unveils their new heavy-hitting next-gen war shooter. But can it compete with Battlefield 2?

THQ's new New York-based developer is comprised of industry veterans from hit action games like F.E.A.R., Doom 3, Battlefield 2, and the fan favorite mod Battlefield: Desert Combat.

But now, Kaos Studios is hard at working crafting a new next-gen war shooter that will let players "experience the highly-charged frontlines of tomorrow, today."

The game is Frontlines: Fuel of War. And much like EA's upcoming Battlefield 2142, Frontlines will propel the player into a desperate, politically charged future scenario that sees humankind struggling over the last precious resources -- in this case, oil reserves.

Frontlines will pit the Western Coalition (USA and the European Union) against the Red Star Alliance (China and Russia) using high-end, prototype mechanisms like rail guns, remote-controlled drones, stealth helicopters and next-gen assault tanks. Kaos is hoping to include 60 vehicles in all.

The single-player experience will delve deeper into the storyline. And though THQ and Kaos are promising for a full-featured multiplayer mode, they're not releasing any details as of yet.

Frontlines: Fuel of War is due out in late 2007. Screens and hands-on impressions to follow soon.
