New Battlestar Galactica Video Game a Possibility

Series mastermind Ron Moore explains the challenges and opportunities of a game based on Battlestar Galactica

In speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, sci-fi mastermind Ron Moore explains the challenges and opportunities of a game based on his hit TV show Battlestar Galactica.

"[Video games are] a new medium and new technology for storytelling, which means there are a lot of things people haven't done yet and figured out yet," Moore says. He's also aware of the "technical and stylistic impact" of video games when he creates episodes of Battlestar Galactica

But there are some serious conceptual challenges, to . "Is it about experiencing the first season, navigating from the miniseries up to [the climactic episode] 'Cobal's Last Gleaming'?" Moore asks. Or should the game go off into "uncharted territory," changing the premise and "taking it further away from the reason you watch the show in the first place?"

Moore doesn't have any answers, but he feels that creating a TV/game hybrid holds special promise.

"I've thought about doing something where you start a property across mediums, with Internet participation and role-playing video games," Moore says. Though this premise wouldn't work for every game or television property, Moore thinks it's a "really rich and interesting place for the business to go."
