Popular music game to launch in Europe in short supply
In a GamesIndustry.biz interview, RedOctane CEO Kelly Sumner confessed that there will be shortages of the popular music rhythm game Guitar Hero when it retails next month in Europe.Sumner claims that "manufacturing constraints" are to blame for the short supply of the guitar controller. Because of the game's rampant success in North America, Guitar Hero is expected to fly off store shelves to eager European consumers.
Being such a small publisher, RedOctane can't mass produce the Guitar Hero controller, as many had hoped. But the game's big marketing push won't hit until September, months after the European release, which may end up working in the company's favor.
