PC Halo 2 to Add Map Editor, HD Graphics

Bungie shares new information on the Windows Vista port of Halo 2

With the consumer version of Windows Vista being delayed until early 2007, there are lingering questions about Bungies recently announced PC port of Halo 2.

A series of interviews on Bungie.net today shed some light on those questions. Several key features are sure to jump out at hardened Halo 2 veterans.

For one, players can expect to see "HD quality visuals" that will "open up exciting avenues" for the graphics.

The other key enhancement appears to be a map editor, which would allow players to build all-new maps for the game. Bungie itself won't be developing this map creation tool, but will joing forces with an outside team "that has experience building creation tools that gamers love."

But those insights don't answer all the questions. For starters, how closely will the multiplayer matchmaking service mimic the acclaimed Xbox Live experience offered on the Xbox version of Halo 2? Will PC players be able to compete with Xbox players? And will internet cooperative modes be introduced?
