New Zelda Will Have Revolution-Only Features

The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess will have special features when played on the Revolution

It's official -- The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess will have special, unique controller functions when played on Nintendo's upcoming console, codenamed "Revolution."

Rumors have been circulating for days, but we've refrained from rumor mongering as an official source could not be confirmed and Nintendo of America offered no response to our inquiries. Now, European trade magazine MCV has confirmed the rumor, complete with a formal statement from Nintendo's European branch: "We can confirm that Zelda: The Twilight Princess will indeed have added Revolution functionality whilst remaining a Nintendo GameCube title."

The rumor started thanks to an entry on Zelda blog Hyrule.net, which linked to an alleged interview with legendary Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto. In that interview, which now appears to be legimate, Miyamoto said that the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess would play on the Revolution and would "take advantage of the Revolution controller."

An update to the Hyrule.net story -- which referenced a second, soon-to-be-released interview with Miyamoto -- contained an example of how the Revolution controller works in Twilight Princess. According to Miyamoto, "you can shoot an arrow simply by pointing the [Revolution] controller at the target on the screen and pressing a button."
