Video Shows Secret Sequel to Battlefield 2: Battlefield 2142

Video shows off footage from a "Battlefield 2142," but is it legit?
Well, it was bound to happen.
Judging by a PC Gamer-marked video on YouTube, EA and Dice are hard at work creating a futuristic sequel to Battlefield 2 called "Battlefield 2142."
Unless the video is an elaborate hoax -- and trust us, stranger things have happened -- the storyline to Battlefield 2142 is outlined by a grim-voiced (and, may we say, slightly melodramatic) narrator. Apparently, an ice age overruns the Earth and triggers a colossal war for territory.
Following that introduction, you get a sneak peak at battle footage, which includes big mechs (it is the future), robot bomber thingees, and lots of high-tech troops wearing optical camo gear.
The trailer ends with a release date of Fall 2006...just one year after Battlefield 2's PC release.
We'll check with EA tomorrow to see if the footage is legit. Until then, enjoy!
