Microsoft to give Xbox 360 users access to free music videos courtesy of Epic Records
In a deal with Epic Records, Microsoft is giving Xbox 360 users access to a year of free music videos and other musical goodies.
Under the agreement, Epic Records will highlight on Xbox Live one of its superstar artists each month. Xbox Live members can download the artist's music videos for free, as well as compete for a chance to play an online game with the artist.
Sexy British singer Natasha Bedingfield is Epic Records' first artist to be spotlighted.
An interesting fact about this promotion: Epic Records is a unit of Sony BMG Music Entertainment, a joint venture between Bertelsmann AG and Sony Corp. That's right, Sony and Microsoft are teaming up!
Possible conflicts of interest aside, if this agreement is successful, it could be a prelude to what we should expect on the PS3.
Other artists under the Epic Records label include Puffy AmiYumi, Celine Dion, Shakira, Michael Jackson, Howie Day, and Jennifer Lopez.
