Analysts calculate GTA worth 80 percent of Take Two's market value
Have you ever wondered how much the Grand Theft Auto series is worth?
Two analysts with the Susquehanna Financial Group, Jason Kraft and Chris Kwak, have calculated just that in a recent report. According to their analysis, the Grand Theft Auto series is worth some $900 million, just shy of 80 percent of publisher Take Two's total market value.
The analysts made this prediction based on the assumption that Rockstar and Take Two would release eleven more GTA games in the next five years; that breaks down to five more PSP titles, three more PC titles, two next-gen console titles, and a PS2 game.
This analysis comes just as GTA publisher Take Two released its most recent financial report, which showed disappointing financial results. The company has been accused of relying to heavily on the Grand Theft Auto brand, and has made pains to diversify its games portfolio in recent months with games like the high-tech shooter Prey and Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
