Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories Coming to the PS2 in "Late April"

GTA: Liberty City Stories scheduled to hit the PS2 in late April

Though Rockstar has released virtually no information on Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories for the PlayStation 2, a financial report released today by Take Two indicates that the publisher is shooting for a "late April" release. Liberty City Stories debuted in October for the PSP.

Despite the announced date, there are some indications that the PS2 edition of GTA: Liberty City Stories may not meet this late April date. First, the Liberty City Stories mention is buried inside the eighth paragraph of the release -- not exactly prime real estate. Second, neither Take Two nor Rockstar has widely engaged the gaming press with information on the title. If the game really is just over a month away, why have no information or screenshots been released at this point?

Other interesting factoids from the financial release: Since its October launch, GTA: San Andreas has been the top-selling PSP game (according to NPD Funworld). Take Two also places the blame for its drooping sales on "limited availability" of the Xbox 360 at retail, as well as lower demand for current-gen consoles like the PS2.
