It's official: Despite rumors to the contrary, Black is not coming to the Xbox 360.In a candid interview with Eurogamer, Criterion's Alex Ward dispelled any rumors about the frenzied first-person shooter appearing on the Xbox 360.
"It's just not true" rang in Ward, commenting on the wide-spread speculations in forums about a potential Black release on Microsoft's new system. Ward did confirm, however, that Criterion is already planning a Black sequel--which he dubbed "Black 2''--that will be for the Xbox 360. But that's several years down the road.
In the meantime, Xbox 360 owners can only bite the bullet and wait. The Xbox version of Black isn't compatible on the Xbox 360, even with its backward compatibility functions. But don't blame Criterion or publisher EA for that smoking gun."[Microsoft] controls and decides what games its emulator works with," Ward vehemently explains. "I've actually asked them four times myself for them to make it happen, but it's really not up to us."
Microsoft didn't respond to our inquiries as of press time.
