Marvel Settles Over City Of Heroes Dispute

Wolverine wannabes to be free from persecution in NCsoft's MMORPG.

Marvel, NC Interactive and Cryptic Studios announced that they have amicably settled all claims brought by Marvel between NCsoft, NC Interactive, and Cryptic Studios with regards to the MMORPG City of Heroes.

The terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but it seems nothing will change for NCsoft's MMO. Marvel originally filed suit over the game's character customizability, saying that City of Heroes (and its expansion City of Villains) allows players to too closely replicate superheroes from the Marvel universe.

It has been speculated that the reasoning behind Marvel's suit was to pave way for a Marvel universe-based MMORPG, but the company has not revealed any such plans thusfar. The comic publisher suffered a blow when a Federal judge dismissed the suit in March. City of Villains was released on the PC last month.
