Man Sues EA Over Allegedly Stolen Idea in Madden 06

Virtual Jam owner claims his idea of following a player's career was stolen and integrated into Madden NFL 06.

According to Reuters, a video game developer has filed a lawsuit against Electronic Arts, claiming that his idea was stolen and used in the publishing giant's hit football game NFL Madden 06.

Virtual Jam owner Pernell Harris claims he met with EA in late 2003 to discuss "Heart of a Champion," a football game he was developing that puts players in the role of an high school football athlete trying to make it to pro. The game also has players pick his parents and experience daily activities including homework and sports practice.

A spokesman for EA has denied the charge, telling Reuters that "the allegations are completely without merit."

Harris is seeking unspecified damages, attorney's fees and restitution.
