Real-World Ads Invade the Matrix

Real ads to accompany fake virtual ads in SOE's MMORPG.
Sony Online Entertainment has announced that real ads will be implemented into its newly acquired MMORPG, Matrix Online.In a partnership with Massive Incorporated, SOE will be injecting real-world ads into the virtual world as part of update 38, which is slated for release this week. Ads in a sense have already existed in-game; the game already has licensed clothing from real-name brands. However, ads now will even extend to billboards, with the company also offering user-generated adverts.
"We will be looking into the idea of running contests for selecting player-generated ads in the future as a way of incorporating these ads into the game," said SOE in a press release.
