Rockstar Announces Another Grand Theft Auto for PSP?

Can it be? Is Rockstar working on another GTA for the PSP?

Lightning can strike twice, it seems...at least, if Rockstar has anything to say about it.

Hot on the heels of their smash-hit PSP game Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Rockstar may already be setting the stage for another exclusive GTA game for Sony's handheld. At least, that's if you believe the words of Paul Eibeler, President and Chief Executive Officer of GTA's publisher, Take-Two Interactive Software.

Yesterday, Eibeler let slip of of GTA sequel in a financial update intended strictly for investors. In discussing the company's upcoming 2006 fiscal year, Eibeler said that the company was "well positioned" in the current generation hardware, "as well as next generation hardware, including the two previously announced Rockstar Games titles for the PSP, one of which is a new Grand Theft Auto title."

This statement is a little confusing; it's unclear whether he's referring to Liberty City Stories (and its market positioning for 2006), or a as-yet unannounced GTA title for the PSP.

We contacted Rockstar to clear up Eibeler's statement, but were greeted with a "no comment," which goes some way to confirm that the company is in fact developing another GTA game for the PSP.

More updates as they come.
