Florida Introduces Violent Videogame Bill

Florida senator looks to restrict the sale of violent games to minors.

Following in Illinois and California's footsteps, Florida has begun legislation on a bill to ban the sale of violent videogames to minors. Introduced by Florida state senator Alex Diaz de la Portilla, bill SB492 is similar to the recently passed California bill that imposes a $1,000 fine upon any uncooperative retailer.

If passed, SB492 would also require violent games to be branded with a 2-inch "18" sticker for home games, as well as those in arcades.

The bill can be viewed in its entirety on the Florida Senate website, here.
