Nintendo Announces Wi-Fi USB Adapter For DS

Nintendo announces a wireless USB adapter for the DS handheld.

Today Nintendo announced today at a special press conference in Tokyo new details on their upcoming Wi-Fi services for the DS handheld system.

Nintendo plans on launching the Wi-Fi service this fall and the service will initially support two titles: Mario Kart DS and Animal Cross DS. The Wi-Fi hotspots will be located primarily in video game stores, with over 1,000 hotspots slated to be available. The use of the hotspots will come at no charge to consumers.

Nintendo also announced that they will release a special wireless USB adapter for use with the DS, which will retail for around $31 US. Unfortunately Nintendo has yet to announce any US news regarding Wi-Fi hotspot service, but stay tuned to Gamepro.com for more news as it comes in.
