Steel Battalion Online Services Getting Axed

Capcom discontinues online Campaign mode in Steel Batallion.

Capcom has quietly announced that they are discontinuing the online services for the Campaign mode in Steel Battalion. The service will formally stop on Friday, September 30th. The message adds that Capcom will "continue services and support for both Free Mission Mode and System Link play" before ending on a somewhat ominious message:

"Please enjoy Campaign Mode for the short time it is still available."

One major problem is the fact that the game's numerous "unlockable" features are only available through playing the online Campaign mode; fans are understandably upset. Capcom's representatives were not immediately available for comment.
