The IGDA forms the Sex SID to address sexual video game content.
The International Game Developers Association has formed a special interest group (SIG) to examine adult content in video games. The Sex Special Interest Group comes on the down slope of "hot coffee", though the IGDA says the formation of the Sex SIG was planned well before the recent San Andreas scandal.According to a recent Game DAILY BIZ interview with Sex SIG chairperson Brenda Brathwaite, the group will "discuss the unique issues, challenges and possibilities the adult content development community faces while sharing information with others hoping to enter the field."
Brathwaite goes on to state that, "People are pointing fingers instead of rolling up their sleeves, examining the issue and saying, 'What can [we] do here?'." What, if any, affect the new group may have on the ESRB and industry rating standards, remains to be seen.
