PvP MMORPG Everown Announced

Czech-based developers announce a player-versus-player-oriented online RPG.

Czech-based developer StringData has announced Everown for PC, an MMO "tactical action" game that will be the first to center on player versus player combat, or PvP.

Not a twitch-based game (such as Unreal Tournament), Everown has players fight based on tactical reasoning and evaluation, which includes melee and ranged combat, stealth, ambushes, laying/disarming traps, and poisons/hallucinogens.

"We of Level 12 Paladins are bonded by a deep passion for player vs. player combat in MMORPGs," said Ondrej Dobias, Designer of Everown, "yet continuously frustrated by the need to perform ever-so-repetitive actions related to obtaining the 'right' equipment and climbing up the leveling treadmill, obstructing our path to what we love the most - battling against a sentient human being in a highly tactical way, where one does not win merely by precision of his aim, but rather through making the right decisions at the right time. Our game, therefore, is an elaboration of the essence of such battles, and we hope to interest not only passionate MMORPG PvPers, but also the fans of action games that prefer contesting using their mental acuity rather than just the quality of their physical reflexes."

Everown is scheduled for release in 2005, and can be played over both broadband and 56k connections. Check out the first tech screenshots at its official page.
